Crankshaft Bearing Removal
Since everyone on the forum has been a lot of help with my engine rebuild I wanted to ask another question. How can I easily remove the bearings from the crankshaft? I want to save the shims if possible so I was thinking I would need to use a cut-off wheel and cut the outer race and then the inner race. Is there a better method?

Harbor Freight has a cheaper one, but this is what you need to get under the bearing. |

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
What motor do you have?
There is never any reason to cut a bearing off a shaft. They are usually removed with a puller. |

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
I got everything apart and pressed back together, new rings and piston. Now just have to get a few minutes to get it back in and fire it up! Thanks for the help.

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
Did you lube up the crank and crank seals? And everything else? No such thing as too much lube on a new motor.

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
Did you make sure that the piston went in the right way?

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
I lubed up the piston, rings, piston pin, bearings, etc., and made sure the piston was in the right direction. So far so good!

Re: Crankshaft Bearing Removal
But did you lube up the crankshaft and seals? If not, they won't last but a few minutes.
