Default Ordered Chins Lithium battery - generic meter question

Couldn't pass up on the price. Know their meter isn't suppose to be the best so question is do I need a shunt meter or do some of the other meters I see advertised as works with Lithium but don't have shunt work also? Links would be appreciated. Plan on install terminal block and power off switch too so advise on those additions also welcome.

For lithium you need a Shunt based meter to get accurate SOC readings.

Unless you have one that will communicate via CANBUS with the BMS.

Yes you can use a shunt based meter. I put a Renogy on my DIY battery and it works great. It installed it in the B- line. Victron Energy makes a round one that fits in a 2" hole and is supposed to be very accurate. Both brands have clones available on AliExpress for cheap that are made by the same company as the brand name ones. Heck if you have a Chinese battery a Chinese gauge should work just fine.

I just installed my third one of these on lithium conversions and I’ve had great results so far

I ordered one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't plan to use factory meter at all, figure it's all on the app.

Curious question, are all shunts the same? What I'm asking is if I don't like the one I ordered, can I leave the shunt from this one and hook a different meter to it, or are shunts designed for each meter?

Each meter is going to be calibrated to the shunt it comes with

It would be interesting to hear from someone who has used a Hall effect/Torroid SOC meter, accuracy etc. Sure looks easier to implement.

Don't get me started on the sh*tty transparent shunt holder they all use , designed by the marketing guy or a summer student....
