I'm new here and have a Club Car problem.

Hi. I'm looking to buy a 48 volt 1995 Club Car. The one I'm checking out will not charge. Plug in the charger and nothing happens.

I tried a friends charger with the same lack of results.

I jacked up the cart and jumped from my friends cart to the positive and negative leads of jacked up cart. The motor runs in both forward and reverse position and responds properly to accelerator pedal pressure.

Is there something in the charging receptacle that sends a message to the charger to turn on? If so, what part is that?

It could be a fuse on the back of the charger recepticle under the seat or the OBC..... On Board Computer.

Thanks. Is that the in-line automotive fuse in the plastic holder or the larger bubble covered fuse link on the receptacle?

Where's the OBC located and I'd guess a club car dealer would have to check that.

And it could just be dead batteries.

Thanks. I checked it out this morning. It's completely dead batteries. I'll also need a micro switch replaced and I'll check the on board computer when the batts are installed. In all I should be able to get it up and running for $600 to $1000 plus purchase price of $800. Reasonable, I think.

Welcome to Gerardsmith. Do you have an orange or red light on the dash? Must have min voltage to charge the batteries.

if your batts are that daed you can bypass the low voltage sensor in the charger and that will allow the charger to turn on..............if you put new batts in it and it still won,t charge than replace the OBC on a 95 they are very good at going bad.............................

99 out of 100 times that people come into my shop sometimes driving a 100 miles or more with charger in hand. Telling me that the charger that I sold them doesn't work... so what I do I plug it in and it works just fine. Sorry about the little story but I get frustrated with club cars onboard computers, they only seem to last about as long as the batts. So is what Im saying is I would check your obc before doing anything with your charger.
