Default Cart idles but will not accelerate

When I press the gas pedal it will idle but will not go. I am looking for answers.

It is not, and does not idle. What you are doing is the equivilent to holding the key on your car in the start position, but the engine wont start only cranking. Spray a little brake cleaner (or carb cleaner, or ether, or something flammable, not WD40) in the carb throat, and try it again to see if it sputters or fires up briefly. That will help you determine if the issue is lack of fuel supplied to carb.

could the cable from the rear axel, to the carb be broken;; I think it would still idle?????????? but have no pedal;; the way your governor works is, your gas pedal goes to the rear end first, then through a spring system,,, then to the carb' 2 separate cables.

A stock Yamaha engine does not idle. Most likely the starter is turning and the engine is not running.

I agree with cgtech.
