Default 8 volt battery Cell to Cell

When checking 8 volt batteries from cell to cell . I can use my multimeter and i have ext for my postive probe. So with that i can reach into the cell. placing the neg probe on the neg post of the battery and the positive in the cell what are good number that i should see from cell to cell ?

You just don't do that.

You don't put test leads down into the cell of a battery. You use a hydrometer to check the specific gravity in the cells.

I only did it when I had a battery below 8 volts, it will show about 2 volts increase unless a bad cell , don't touch the plates .
