Okay cart golf gurus, here's the scoop. I continued to be confused as the what the "hissing" sound was that started after replacing the batteries. So I called Trojan Battery help desk who was also confused and at a loss for explanation. Guess what? I am not such a idiot, slow learner, nor do I have a wire loose!! As it turns out my radio was left on with a very low volume an not on a station when the cart was parked as the CD player had been in use. The hissing sound could not be heard unless you have the seat lifted or off and actually close to the battery compartment. So where was the hissing sound coming from you ask?? It was coming from the speakers which are located somewhat close to the battery compartment but not visible. Once I turned the radio off, guess what??? The hissing stopped. So my friends, sometimes one doesn't have to be so technical or think about situations so deeply. Just be persistent!! Thanks for everyone's responses.

Perhaps it's just me, but I think leaving the radio on makes one ALL of these things....
