Two coil failures.......WHY??
i am working on a new to me 1986 EZGO tuneing etc and have two coils fail in appoxamtly a week what would cause this....they have both been automotive type coils..THANKS

Are the coils made for electronic ignition or for points? If the coils you are using are made for points, you will need a resistor on the positive lead going to the coil or else the coil will get too much current and burn up.

That could be very possible i bought the cart with the coil on it and when that one burnt out i just went to automotive parts store and bought another like it.
I now have an EZGO coil on order and waiting on that to arrive,correct me if i am wrong but i should not need a resistor on a stock coil ...........correct |

Yes- if you are using the stock ignition module, then the stock coil should work fine with it.
