Default Brake adjustment on 05 txt. OR self adjusting?

Are the brakes on a txt self adjusting? I just replaced the brake cables and the passenger side brake assembly on mine and the original driver wheel stops fairly solidly but the new passenger wheel only mildly stops. I know there is a little gear in the brakes that as it extends pushes the shoes out more and more as it turns... my question is does it "self adjust so eventually the brakes will be better and balanced or do i need to go in there and adjust them myself?
