Well my driver took the box that had the head in it over to the machine shop before i could take some pics but the intake valves were worn pretty bad were they seat. The exhaust wasn't too bad but we are replacing them all for the sake of argument. If i get the old valves back i'll post up pics of the wear. The other thing we found is that when we drained the oil there was gas in it. Any ideas on where that would come from?

Gas in the oil will come from a stuck or dirty needle in the carb float. The carb will overflow, drain into the intake and seep past the rings into the oil as it sits. pretty common, and easy fix fortunately.

While its apart i will take a look at the needle and see whats up. The carb is brand new but i guess that really doesnt mean anything .

Well the carb had a little debris in the bottom of the bowl. Pulled the float and needle and cleaned it up. Should be ready when the head comes back.

Dirt holding the needle open will definitely make that happen as well. Cleaned up it should be fine :) your crankcase just got a little cleaner!

Haha no doubt. The engine as a whole is really clean. Definitely explains the good compression.

Well head came back from the machine shop. Put the motor back together and wouldn't you know it isnt fixed. Same issue same results. Here are some pics of the head after the rebuild. Not sure where i should go from here. It is definitely sputtering at low rpm.

i have 97 club car that is doing same thing. it starts up fine doesnt even need to be choked. as it warms up by 8th hole it starts to backfire and slows down going uphill. sometimes engine over runs when i stop. it seems to be running too rich, i have put in nonethanol gas and have closed down carb adjustment. nothing seems to work. it has been recently tuned up,new spark plug, gas filters oil change.
