Angry Yamaha G9 starter/gen to VR wiring

I dropped a clone into my G9. I'm using the original starter generator. I am frustrated in trying to find the proper connections to make to hook to a 3 wire automotive regulator. Terminals are marked Bat, Gen, Field. I've poured over schematics and blogs but I can't find where the green and red wires go. I have tried multiple combinations from various schematics I've found but nothing works. The SG and VR are both new. The SG ohms out correctly between red and green wires. I;ve got a ton of hours in the conversion and all is satisfactory except I can't charge the darned battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best I can tell you... R/W D (+), Green (DF), and black D (-) or battery ground. Hope your regulator instuctions or that the vr is labeled as such.

That is my dilemma. I can't correlate between what you have and Bat, Gen and Arm.

That regulator will not work. Just use the original Yamaha regulator and wire it up according to the proper wiring diagram. The red/white wire is hooked to a positive feed and the regulator grounds the green wire for regulation. If the Yamaha regulator is not available, I believe you can use a Chrysler voltage regulator as it also regulates in the same manor.
