Default Battery issue gas G2

Recently got new battery, new starter generator for my Yammy G2 gas.started off great, but after two days, battery dead. Keeps repeating, checked for drain, none found, disconnected ground over night, worked fine next day, but halfway through the day, died! I'm assuming new starter gen not charging while driving but don't know how to check that, or possibly solenoid??? Thanks for any help!

Welcome !
With the cart on stands, run in neutral and check output with a meter at the battery posts. Should show above 12V , like 13.5 or 14 possibly more. Solenoid is a “switch” that only engages to run the starter, and disengages once the engine is running so has no impact on charging. Is it a Yamaha starter/generator ? Or Chinese?

Here is a copy of the wiring diagram for the G2, maybe this will help you isolate the gremlin in your electrical system.

Good luck, electrical issues are no fun!

One word of advice that any of the regulars here will second, if that new starter/generator is Chinese, try to return it and get an OEM Yamaha s/g. That goes for any replacement parts, carbs, coil, cdi, gaskets, etc. I see more threads here with people fighting engine or electrical issues and a lot of times its because they used cheap Chinese replacement parts. It costs a bit more for OEM, but the end result is worth the money spent.

I also have the service manual in pdf format, there is a whole troubleshooting section for exactly what you are fighting. If you need a copy of the manual, send me a PM and I'd be happy to e-mail it to you.

OEM is quite expensive and were on a long backorder when I wanted one.

I had an alternator shop rebuild one of mine. $75. Bearings, brushes...

Any good shop can test your generator and determine if it is the culprit.
