There should only be a tiny amount of oil getting to the actual valves. When you remove the valve cover, how much oil are you seeing? There should NOT be a huge puddle of oil up there, but rather a nice even coating, maybe a few tiny little puddles near the divots in the castings.

What engine are we working on here?

The oil doesn't come from that hose, that's a breather tube, it just lets air in and out of the engine.

Oil comes from tiny passageways in the castings of the engine. If that engine has an oil pump, the oil gets pumped from the crankcase up into the engine through the oil passages. If it's a splash lube system, the crank has a dipper that throws oil all over and it makes its way up through the crankcase to the head.

Are you having issues with the engine?

Drain the oil and inspect it. Does it have metal shavings in it? Is the oil like black syrup and smell like gas?

That is the oil delivery tube if it next to the spark plug. The breather hose is on the other side of the rocker cover. Oil does come up there to the rocker box after being fed up there by the crank shaft splash fin.

You're saying oil is delivered to the rockers via a rubber hose?

OP, is the oil in the crankcase full and clean/new oil?

It is a metal tube that attaches to the the rocker cover with a hose that is positioned at the back side of the cylinder. All of the G2-14 engines rockers are oiled this way.

Pictured below is the valve cover or rocker box. Picture #1 shows the fitting for oil coming into the cover. Picture # 2 shows the fitting for venting crankcase pressure.
