G16 Secondary Clutch Aftermarket Options “NON CHINA”
I had to replace my OEM clutch when I purchased and started my build on the G11/G16. I bought a cheap $75 one one eBay that came with the red performance spring... of course now that it’s been about a full season it finally broke the casting on the fixed clutch ramp and needs to be replaced. I heard going to a UMax spring instead of the other non post style performance Springs is better but who offers a decent secondary clutch that’s not made in China? Trying to find the most cost effective route without spending an arm and a leg. It has a 6” lift and larger tires and is Mainly used for driving around the wife and kids in the neighborhood “which is hilly” or our flat yard.

The CVT drive system is the most important system because it controls the power delivery. I would not recommend anything other than factory Yamaha parts. Plowman's Carts sells factory Yamaha parts and has modified performance versions if you desire.
Any clutch parts that are $99 are going to be vastly inferior and in the long run you will spend less buying factory Yamaha. |

Re: G16 Secondary Clutch Aftermarket Options “NON CHINA”
I called plowmans today but they said they don’t sell anything for aftermarket golf carts.?? It’s a stock rear end but after market 18HP engine. They said they couldn’t tell me what spring to use or clutch to put on because it has to be tuned in person if it has an aftermarket engine which I can understand.. so now I’m thinking about just buying a Japanese or factory Yamaha sliding sheave put on since that’s the casting that broke but my question is should I go back to using the generic red HD spring or a UMax spring that has the pegs that lock into the sheaves? I heard the springs without the pegs on each end are really hard on the clutch

Just go with a factory Yamaha secondary clutch with a factory spring. Start there, I'm pretty sure it will run bananas.

Yep, don't know what engine you've got, but with 18hp, you don't need a machined sheave and a torque spring. My Vanguard cart -- it's FOR SALE--has the OEM Yamaha sheaves and the regular 4" spring.
