Default Rear Axle

I just sold my 92 marathon and bought a 2003 TXT (11 year jump YA!!). So I have some new questions. I would like to no what kind of oil the rear takes (30 weight non detergent?), and do you check it the same way you would a truck rear? If it hits hits the tip of your finger it's full enough or does it take a lessor amount? The reason I am asking is when I remove the cap and check the level I can not feel any oil.

Yes, it uses 30wt oil, theres a bolt on the other side you use to check it. you can look in the tech section at the manuals, they have all kinds of neat info in them.

Jon, I looked through the manuals and they are very helpful. I saved them on my laptop for future use. With regards to the rear oil I now know how to check them and fill it to it's proper level. I understand I should use 30 w. On my 92 marathon you told me to use 30 w non detergent. Do I use the same on my 2003 TXT or just use regular 30 w oil?
