Default voltage on frame???

I am having trouble with my cart since installing the new motor/controller...so I called alltrax and they were very helpful in troubleshooting. Ultimately we discovered that there is 28v on the frame which according to Alltrax is unusual and not good...determined by measuring votage between the neg battery post and the frame.

Has anyone ever heard of this? what should I be looking for??

Do you have a turn signal switch mounted on your steering column?

No turn signal...the alltrax guy said to clean the batteries with baking soda and water. I'm going to give that a shot tommorow.

Cover your controller and solenoid with a plastic bag and do not let any of the baking soda get into a battery cell, It will neutralize the cell .... Somebody else may know better but I suggest you heed this warning

I would skip the baking soda part and just hose it with straight water. Is any of the electrics using the frame as a ground? Lights, horn etc? If so that needs to be changed.

Alright I got the cart working I actually had the two big blue wires coming from the FNR switch reversed...I washed my batteries off with water last night.

Gobs of torque...I haven't had much time to tweak the programing yet...

For future reference having those wires reversed caused the Alltrax controller to show three red flashes in series ( LED blinks 3 times red) which is supposed to be High Pedal disable alarm.

Don't be afraid to use the baking soda on the terminals if they show corrosion. Put a small amount of water on the soda and watch the corrosion bubble off. Hose off after and be careful not to get into the cells. When dry I spray on WD-40, it's easy to keep clean and won't harm batteries, etc.. Re-spray each month, or sooner, when checking battery water levels.Every minute spent on Battery maintenance extends their life 100 fold
