Default CURRENT DRAW ON BATTERY why???

I have a 1991 yamaha g9 which I went out and bought a new battery for because the one it came with went dead. The new one with in five days was dead too. I started to back up which it did, put it into forward and it was dead. My charger showed the battery as dead. Someone said I should figure out what the draw was on the system. Can someone advise how??? Thanks for any assistance from a not so savvy cart owner...

Welcome to BGW!

First make sure the starter / generator belt is tight. Make sure all the electrical connections are clean and tight.

Is there a chance you left it in reverse? Even if your back-up beeper isn't working, it's getting power if left in reverse (even with the key off). You probably already knew that, but just thought I'd ask.

I have a suggestion. Recharge the battery, put your voltmeter on the battery, should read 12 to 13 volts, put the cart in nuetral (half way betwen forward and reverse) or jack up the rear of the cart. Now rev up the engine. You sould find the volt reading climbs to 14.5 to 15.5 volts. If not, you have a charging curcit problem. Give it a try and let us know what you find. Good luck
