Help my Yamaha G16 can't climb hills!
Hello all knowledgable ones! I have a nice 1999 Yamaha G16 that cannot climb hills. It boggs to a stop even going over a small ditch. I am not sure if it is my clutch or driven clutch. I have read past posting's and I checked and I still have the governor. What do you guys recommend. Should I by-pass the governor or install a Yamaha speed spring to increase my power? Which is better, I don't want to destroy my motor with high RPM's, but I do want to climb hills. Any help would be appreciated!

Can you recommend a website that sells these items as a kit? I would also need instructions on how to install these parts.

Re: Help my Yamaha G16 can't climb hills!
i own a g14 and had the same problem. i purchased this power kit and it was the best thing i did. this will help with those hills. the speed spring is just what it says its for SPEED. you will not over rev the cart with the speed spring because its adjustable. if you bypassed it then there is a good chance you can but not necessarily will. both products can be purchased through cartpartsplus.com one of our site sponsors....

the speed spring comes with pretty good instructions... and the power kit instructions are posted by spriddle wth comments from shawn.m at the top of the page on the yamaha gas catagory.

OK...So I should leave the governor alone and not worry about by-passing it. How difficult would it be to install the power clutch kit. Does anyone have any pics and or step by step instuctions for the begginer cart owner like myself?

using the straps helps quite a bit. read spriddles instructions and look at the pictures I added. it is fairly easy to following the instructions
