Default 1981 yamaha g1 value

Can anyone tell me what a 1981 yamaha g1 is worth? I found one that is running and the body looks pretty good. He wants 500. Is that a good price?

Sounds like a pretty good deal if there's not a lot of rust and non-factory mods that don't fit into your plans for the cart.

Around here it is hard to find them cheaper, given it is in good condition and runs well. I have a hard time understanding why they are worth that much, because many people don't want a 2 stroke and they are older. I offered 500 for one here a year ago or two maybe (he wanted 600), it was ok but rough because the guy cut off the seat bars and it had a goofy box bolted on the back. It didn't have that much power, I unplugged the exhaust for him so it would run lol. The steering was ratted out and front was low like shocks were weak. He would not take 500 not sure what he got sold it the next spring. I figure it needed seats, engine work, steering work, etc, then it would only be stock and I'd have around $1K into it easily just for the cart and parts with my free labor. I was not beat up or painted, but the body still needed work to look good. I could not see 1K for that and then consider lifting it or something. But hey that is just me lol. It really depends on the area you are in. At one time I could have bought half a dozen parts carts for 100 each and still kicking myself for that. They were not that bad could have fixed most of them.

I have a G1 1985 and I paid 300.00 He wanted 500.00. He is probably in the ball park. See how bad he wants to get rid of it. Try offering him less.

Thanks, I did try that he said that for less than 500 he would keep it as a spare. It looks clean no rust on frame so I guess it would be worth that.

It depends on your area, but around here they pop up on Craigslist for $600-$800 quite often. Ones in good condition that you could use on the golf course without embaressment are advertised for about $1000.

You kind of have to pay what the local market supports. It just surprises me when in some areas they have outlawed 2 stroke outboards and dumping them in other areas as well such as motorcross, nobody wants that stinky thing on a GC or in a campground, and they are not the best looking carts even if you ignore their age. For what we use them for they work fine, they are durable and make good power stock.
