Battery question

I have a 1981 cc 36 volt that's about to need batteries. Was wondering what would happen if I put in 3-12 volt deep cycle marine batteries instead And wired them to where they put out 36 volts. Is that possible

You could do this but you will not get the run time out of them like you would a golf cart battery. Marine batteries do not have the amp hrs of golf cart batteries, 6-6v is better than 3-12v.

Why do you think Club Car stopped using 12 volt batterys, because even golf cart 12 volt batterys DO NOT give the service and range and life of either 6 volt or 8 volt batteries. Besides you would have to rework your battery supports. On the use of marine batterys they are really only heavier duty "starting batterys" not for high draws needed for golf carts.

What batteries are best for the buck? Any websites or dealers you recommend?

Trojan, Crown, US in that order from my point of view. Try for local dealers as shipping will kill any possible sale prices you might find as quality batterys will weigh 62 lbs ( T-105 ) to 72 lbs ( T-145 ) each. If you are in doubt about what battery to buy pick several different brands up and see how much heavier a quality battery is ( weight means more lead and lead is where power and life comes from ).

I too prefer the major brands but if you are looking for inexpensive batteries.... Sam's and Costco sell batteries also. Cheapest cost and after all how you use & care for your batteries determines how much use you get as much as what you buy....
P.S. while we never recommend the old 3/12v thing some flat land trailer park carts have gotten some use out of this setup albeit for shorter run times and diminished battery life.
