Default permatex or a new gasket

Im going to do new crank seals on my 87 G1 and cant seem to find a gasket for the crank cover . What do you guys use?

I'm not sure what gasket you are referring to. Are you splitting the crankcase? The seals can be removed and replaced without taking the crankcase apart.

For the record, there is no gasket between the crankcase halves of a G1. The preferred sealant is Threebond 1194:

Most of the Japanese mtorcycle/snowmobile companies sell it under their brand name (Yamabond, Hondabond, etc.) and I have found it at autoparts stores as Permatex Motoseal #1 Ultimate Grey Gasket Maker (item # 29132).

Regular automotive RTV silicone sealer is not recommended. It does not have the strength and durability to hold up under 2-stroke crankcase pressures.
