Steering Issue
I have a 1997 TXT that has been sitting up a couple years. I replaced the batteries and got it going again. Now I am having a problem with the steering. It turns to the right without any problems, but when turning to the left, sometimes it will do fine and others it feels like it is jumping a tooth (or teeth) on the rack and pinion. Is there an adjustment for this or will I have to replace the rack and pinion unit?

Sounds like you have stripped one of the teeth in the gearbox area. You do not need to replace the whole unit, tear it down so you can see what the problem is, there is a rebuild kit for it if you need it. One of the site sponsors can hook you up. |
