Used Batteries
Have the opportunity to pick up some used 2010 6volts real cheap.
Would you buy used batteries for a quarter of what you would pay for new? I only want to get about a year or so out of them, because I will eventually go to 48V. |

Re: Used Batteries
Good point. Specific gravity is the best measurement of an active (healthy) cell. Each cell should be checked and standing voltage taken into account. If the seller can charge with a GC charger that would be preferred~wait 12hours after charging for testing.... write all the test results down and compare; voltages should not vary more than a 10th of a volt from battery to battery ideally. and SG readings not more than say 20 pts within a battery and 30 pts from battery to battery..... If you can get these kinds of readings your used batteries will likely serve you well....
If you don't test them you will end up like a guy who called me yesterday, said he bought used batteries on Craigslist and the cart runs good on the flats but stops up any incline = bad battery or 2? So, test & good luck |
