Re: 1986 244cc ezgo backfire
Does it backfire when you let off the gas, or when you give it gas, or every now and then at no particular time?

Re: 1986 244cc ezgo backfire
Because the 2 strokes have to run backwards, timing has to be tdc or real close to tdc. you can adjust some models alittle but it seem more trial and error than anything.

Re: 1986 244cc ezgo backfire
I also have a 1986' 2 stroker Ez-Go, and have the same problem. I am going to try to get the manuel uploaded for this cart tonight and it should have the Timing needed for it. I am about to do a top end rebuild on mine and plan to adjust the timing once in there.

Re: 1986 244cc ezgo backfire
Most 2 cycle back fires (in reality are spit backs) caused by the combination of low engine RPM and the fact that the spark is set for operating RPM,(fixed). Add in a lean stumble through when opening the throttle (no accelerator pump) the engine pre fires and forces a pre detonation back through the crankcase and out the carb.
Lean caused by (altered or faulty air box) (miss adjusted idle screw)(partly clogged idle jets, airways)(low fuel level in carb). On going spit backs are hard on the reed valves. GOOD LUCK |
