Default Solenoid resistor and diode help

So I bought a used alltrax 500 amp controller and solenoid as I mentioned in my other thread. This solenoid does not have a resistor or diode with it. Do I just use my factory diode and resistor or do I need to purchase different ones for this solenoid? If I need to buy them, where can I get them? I attached a picture of the solenoid that I bought. Also, is this solenoid ok if I convert to 48 volts later? As always, I appreciate any help on this.

Question Re: Solenoid resistor and diode help

Here is what Alltrax has to say about diodes and resisters.

As far as if it will work on 48 volts I can't tell you. The picture needs to show the voltage rating. What does it say on it. It should tell you if it's ok for 48 volts.

Thank you for that post, it was very informative. I ordered the correct diode and resistor for my application and another resistor for when I go to 48 volts later.

As far as the solenoid goes, it's worn off so I can't see the voltage rating on it but I did google the part number and it states that it is for 36 and 48 volt applications. I guess I just need to change to the proper resistor when I do the conversion. Its a 400/1000 amp solenoid.

Anyway, your post helped me out alot and I appreciate it. I'm learning slowly so maybe some day I will be able to help out here on the forum some too.
