So... let me get this straight...
You want to use the 80 something axle, with the 97 trans?

thanks for replying lockman, appreciate it, heres the deal, i have a complete and working 97 rear transaxle in my 88 clubcar, it came with the original 88 transaxle, but it was making noise in the transmission section, so i swapped it out for the 97, however the 97 transaxle has a bent axleshaft on the drivers side, its not badly bent, but enough to notice it when driving, i am wondering if the axleshaft is interchangeable, id rather change just the axle with the one from the 88, than buy a new 97 axleshaft. hoping they are interchangable

Club Car did a pretty major change to their trans-axles in 1996,
not only did they change the rotation, but, also changed to a "unitized" trans-axle.
I looked up axles on my CC dealers website, and 86 to 96 axles, are different then the 97 and up axles.

I'm pretty sure that your 80's axle won't work with your 97 trans-axle,
UNLESS... both trans-axles look exactly the same, then it just may work.
