I would be careful not to splash water on any of the electronics. When I wash mine, I cover the controller and solenoid with an old rubber floor mat. Then I use the hose with no nozzle attached so the water comes out gently. I have never disconnected anything to do the washing, but like I said, try not to get the electronics wet!

A plastic bag over the Electronics and F&R works good, too

I don't know about other controllers but if you have an Alltrax it is "Fully encapsulated epoxy fill" so I don't worry about getting it wet. I have on a couple of occasions had the cart not want to run after washing under the seat or hitting a large puddle in the street but I found that if I wipe off the 2 throttle tabs on the controller everything was fine. I just hit those tabs with a little WD 40 once in a while and no problem.

I keep seeing the 'F&R', i understand its the forward and reverse... question, 08 TXT PDS, my F&R is on the dash, are you saying cover that with, say a press and seal so it doesn't get wet? and the controller under the seat, protect with a floor mat as so not to soak or direct spay on it?... again, just questions to get my mind working or on the right path....

no need to worry about FnR on a PDS cart...on a series they are under the seat so you dont have that prob...and correct never directly spray or soak your controller...can be a costly mistake...

What I'm wondering is, if we're supposed to use a fire extinguisher that is meant for electrical things, wouldn't a spray of water also possibly cause shock?

Ah, you have opened the door to upgrading the controller.... if I soak it, I'll need to replace it, why replace with a stock one, he he he,

I don't disconnect anything. I hose the thing down liberally, scrub away and hose it all again with the stereo cranked. I try to be mindful not to get water inside my power outlet bank or on my speaker cones. Aside from that I soak the thing fairly thoroughly inside and out.
