Club car rear end
I have a 92 club car ds that the rear end messed up on. I took the rear end apart and fixed it. While I had it apart I took the governor out. Now since I got the cart back together the cart seems to not climb hills as good. Could this be the cause of it or do y'all think I just need a new belt. Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Club car rear end
Did you possibly install a shim-washer incorrectly or not at all,That would cause a bind.Did you use gaskets or sealer for the cases?Sometimes the gaskets are a shim, and the sealer doesn't set the cases evenly,or the proper-depth.I would also check to see if you have a brake dragging, maybe a cable got bound-up when installing the axle.Hope this helps.

Re: Club car rear end
I will check your suggestions thanks. The rear end seems to be working correctly. The clutches are working together as they should. The cart is still as fast as it was. It just seems to have lost some pulling power on hills. Would any of these or all of them cause it not to pull as good?? Thanks

Re: Club car rear end
The only part I took apart was the gear box. I didn't take the axles out. This cart had the gear box on the side and that is all I took apart.

Re: Club car rear end
Any drag/resistence will reduce power.Start with the brakes,if they seem ok,back them off to remove them from the equation, carefully take it for a quik ride, see if power feels better. No change, look at the rear-end.

Re: Club car rear end
I checked everything you told me and all seems to be in order. The only thing I changed is I pulled the gears out of the rear end that controll the governor. Do y'all think this would cause it to not have as much low end power. I know on my other carts I have loosened the governor to make it run faster but this is the only one I actually removed the gears that controlled it. Thanks

Re: Club car rear end
somewhere i read about bypassing the govener in a CC, and i thought you had to do something with the cables in the controll box under the seat.

Re: Club car rear end
Did you move the engine any? If so, you must get the engine aligned properly for it to get the power back. In 96 1/2 they bolted the engine to the rearend and eliminated the need to have to align the clutches. Also make sure the throttle cables are opening the carb all the way. You removed the governor so of course it will be faster. But if your carb is not opening all the way, it will be slower off the line.
