Search jetting, been the subject on here a lot. As far as parts, whole lot safer to use "Genuine Yamaha Parts" or use one of the venders on here. Many have done ebay, and been disappointed.

You can get jets, they are not that expensive iirc. Lot of stuff is not that expensive at a yamaha dealer even, though some things are. I used a torch tip cleaner to hog my stock jet out, they are like needle files more or less. Can also get micro drill bits.

Ebay springs you are on your own, some of them kill top speed. I know the ones from Plowmans and CPP are good, or others recommended on here by people that have used them. I just bought a umax spring from tnt carts (a dealer too) and it works great on my clone engine, it was $15 or something you can look it up on their site. It is significantly stronger than stock and they use it in their torque kits. Some of the aftermarket springs are super strong, pure pain to install, and don't work well, so be careful. You should check your clutches and clean/lube them. Stock carts with stock tires should not have trouble spinning on grass or dirt.

Personally I don't like the torque springs, that clutch is not made to have a spring like that in it except for the larger umax spring. They do work for a lot of people. I did some other mods to my stock clutches and was able to pull 18' boats (fiberglass) out of a lake with 22 tires with my G9 and stock spring. I should have bought a umax spring years ago but never found the right number until lately.

Also make sure your tension cable is working right, that will make them bog on takeoff if they are broken... if you have a G2/9.

That is the spring you can order from a yamaha dealer I got mine from TNT. You should also get a cut sheave got mine from CPP, or you can cut yours. Just cut the inside of the movable sheave almost down to the seal. Here is a photo.

Scroll down to the clutch photos. The old sheave I hand ground the inside down just for fun. It makes the belt go to the top of the secondary. That is also a CPP HD belt they are wider and go higher. This gives you a lower gear when you take off, so it pulls loads better and hits high rpm faster doing it. Even with a stock clutch my clone is at full shift rpm in less than 2 seconds on WOT takeoff, around 4K rpm. The umax spring keeps the rpm higher at lower speeds.

You can put the filter on likely it will be lean and sputter at full throttle. If you take the carb off and bowl and use a sharp screwdriver get the jet out, file the jet larger I did like 10 strokes on it at a time. Put it back in not very tight. Try it and if still not wanting to go full throttle then use 10mm wrench and screwdriver you can get the jet out in the cart file it more. Move to next larger one when you can. Just have to go little at a time and try to keep jet hole round, file it straight as you can. a few times and it should run better. Depends on how restrictive the filter is how much you need to enlarge it. When it goes without sputtering you have to read the plug to fine tune jetting, lots of internet info on that. I like to see the plug light brown on a air cooled lawn type engine after running WOT for a bit and turning it off real fast, then check the plug. That is a little rich but they make the most power there. Light tan is proper. Also use the #2 ngk plug for newer yamaha it works better.

Where the sheaves touch at rest is where you cut the movable one down. If you laid it flat ramps down you would surface the top down. You need to do it evenly though, they use a lathe or mill usually. That way they go closer together closed, and the belt will stick out the top some. The wider belt does that some on its own as its wider. It only affects about 5mph and less, but more power starting out with big load, or revs faster taking off, because its a lower gear to start with. If you look at it below where the belt would run at its lowest point you will see a flat spot around it maybe 3/8" wide, that is the cut. I bought a new one cut as mine was about to wear through.
