essentially your supposed to hang all batteries at the same to help sea battery life. You could instal one new battery but that won't get u far for long!

ok, So we finally got to try the cart on the course. we started with 51.20 volts after 12 hrs rest. we played about 7 holes and the battery light came on. I am assuming the other 3 older batteries are pulling the new one down! what is the best way to check each individual battery with a DVM? thanks!!!

Which battery tub does he have?

Early 2008 tub:

If the battery tub doesn't have the plastic divider and the TOW/RUN switch is on the back wall of the battery box, you have a 2008.5 model year and can convert to 6 x 8v batteries without any modifications to the tub itself. Check this thread out: Precedent Conversion From 12v to 8v
2008.5 and up tub:

If you want to know which is your next "offending" battery - drive the cart for about a half hour - then hook your multimeter to each of the old batteries one-at-a-time while driving (just slip the wires under the front or back of the seat and watch the meter). Drive it for a short while (then find a hill to drive up) and watch for the voltage drop on each of them. The one which drops the most is the one that's causing the next/current problem. As you repeat charge cycles the new battery will try to join in with the others - but if they are too weak, it'll slowly degrade to their level.

Try what joesam said, but when all the batteries are shot, put the 6 x 8v batteries in there.

Ccfanatic. I'm trying real hard to talk him into it. He says he only used the cart for golf so he died not see the advantage to it. I will do the test that Jordan says and see what happens. Thanks a bunch.

You could tell him that it will increase battery pack life and run time.

The cost of the batteries is close to the same, those 12v batteries are expensive.
