steering concern
I just put a 6" Jakes on my 06 ds! Seems to have made the steering extremely squirrelly! Every thing seems to be good and tight! Has anyone else had this problem, if so, what to do?

Re: steering concern
I don't think that is the problem, but I will check it out in the morning! I'll keep you posted!

Re: steering concern
Well everything checked out ok, and tight. I'm wandering if the springs could be too weak???

Re: steering concern
Guess a better description of "squirrely" would be appropriate.
What is the cart doing? Probably not the springs as others would be having the same problem, and we don't see posts of the springs as an issue when adding lifts to an '06 DS, usually. Are your front tires toe'd in 1/8"? Check the thread Budule linked to for Toe Adjustment section. |

Re: steering concern
I have checked the toe in its right on. By squirrelly, I mean on a road that isn't totally level, the cart will dart back and forth to the extent that you could lose control, even seems to be top heavy. Kind of like the tie rods are made of rubber.

Re: steering concern
thad description sounds like someone describing a worn out srteering. it could be tie rods spindle bushings steering box even loose wheel bearings. also when a cart or anything else is lifted the handling always suffers.

Re: steering concern
From what I can see. Everything is tight! The only thing that I'm not sure how to check is the steering box?

Re: steering concern
Have someone turn the wheel while you hold a tire and look at the front end components. If you see the coupling moving above the steering box, and no movement of the rack that correlates with it, then the play is in the R&P. If that is tight, then start checking the steering rod end and the tie rod ends, they should all be moving at the same time, if one is moving and a part hooked to it doesn't that indicates that there is play and the part with the play needs replaced.
