Speed + 1996 TXT DCS?
I have a stock (non-lifted) 1996 EZGO TXT with DCS and 36 volt. It goes about 13 to 13.5 mph. Will putting 10 inch instead of stock 8.5 tires increase speed much? Really would like to get a couple more MPH. Thanks

Stock rims are 8 inches. Your putting on 10 " rims but unless I'm missing something you are not running on the rims so we need to know what the height of the tire is. I have 10" rims with 19 - 25 inch tires in my fleet.

Re: Speed + 1996 TXT DCS?
The best way for speed is a new controller, then 48v battery back and finally a new motor. Bigger tires will give you more speed but the stock DCS controller is a week link in the chain and won't last too longer. Go here - Carts Unlimited Controller Packages about half way down the page and package 505. You won't know what happened to your cart with that controller package. Also its about the same cost as a new set of tires.

Also replacing the stock 6 gauge cables with 4 or 2 gauge cables will help, personally I'd go with 2 gauge, it could give you a mile or 2 more

definitely controller, i have 4 guage wires and had to replace the stock controller, went with alltrax 400 amp. I had up to 23 mph with stock tires and weak batteries recently. 7 year old controller, 8 year old batteries.

Re: Speed + 1996 TXT DCS?
If the existing 18" tall tires are replaced with 20" tires the speed will go from 13.5 MPH to 15 MPH, but you will loose 10% of the available torque.
Keeping the existing 18" tires and replacing the DCS controller with an Alltrax DCX400 will up the speed into the low 20's as well as increasing the torque. The stock 85A solenoid and stock 6Ga cables need to be upgraded no matter what else you do. |

The DCS cart will go 20 mph with a 30% gain in torque with pkg 505 and some new cables. These carts are simple to upgrade

Re: Speed + 1996 TXT DCS?
Agree with controller. My '97 fried the stock contoller. Scotty hooked me up with the 505 package and I was shocked at the speed increase. At that time the rest of the cart was bone stock, and I GPSed it at 22mph, I also put 2 gauge cable on it.
