Remove steering wheel G19E
Any tips for removing the steering wheel on my 2000 G19E? I have the nut off obviously, but I can't get the wheel to budge from the splined shaft. I have a steering wheel puller for automotive use, but it's not wide enough to grab anything on the wheel. I also tried a 6" jaw puller but all it did was bend the plastic a bit.

Re: Remove steering wheel G19E
put the nut part way back on to protect your face during next step. get in drivers seat, put feet on vertical part of floor board. grab wheel & "pull like hell" while rocking back & fourth. you will have to pull hard enough that your butt will be hovering. the wheel will pop off against the nut. (or against your face if you didnt put the nut back on)

I use a "dead blow" hammer on the strongest portion of the plastic, only broke one, but that's just me

Re: Remove steering wheel G19E
hey,
smallblock and cg are right, it can be a really big pain to get it off, but it eventually gives. also, sometimes I place a prybar behind it and pry it upward to get it to pop off, sometimes it chews up the plastic a little, but its not that noticeable -steve |

Re: Remove steering wheel G19E
never broke any & didnt damage the plastic........ i have had to occasionally resort to the archaic measures of the hammer, very rarely. that does damage the nut.
