Electric yamaha motor?

The newer electric Yamahas use a Hitachi motor if I'm not mistaken, if that helps anything.
Besides the Club Car motor having too much power for the weak little Yamaha differential, I couldn't foresee any problems.

Ah, are Yamaha differentials fairly weak then? I'm quite new to all this, so I'm completely unaware of the reputations of various companies, alas. Both motors are about 3 HP, so I'm hoping it will stand up to whatever this motor dishes out. . . hopefully. . .
Oh, here's an embarrassing little question:
My ClubCar motor had a glob of what looked like Bondo on the armature near the head when I bought it (used). I asked a mechanic about it and he said he couldn't see them using it for balance, and I should remove it, so I did. However, a couple of days ago I stumbled across a pic of a motor on eBay with the same glob underneath which photo a caption read: "factory balanced for peak performance." Have I erred irretrievably? The motor still works, but I wonder if I should try to put another glob of whatsit onto the armature.

If you can get it to wire up correctly, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Have you changed your rear end oil? If not, it may not be a bad idea. I think 80W-90 synthetic is the gear oil of choice for a lot of folks.

And I just razz people about Club Cars being better, which is my opinion. It should be fine.

Oh, and it's a Dana/Spicer differential.

I have seen that glob of stuff on the last 2 motors I have tken apart. I do believe its used for balancing. I sent one out for a re-work and it came back with it on there. I wouldn't worry about putting it back on there. Not sure what the substance is but I would hate for it to come off and damage the motor.
