48v DC CarryAll vs. 72v AC Cushman/EZGO
I'm comparing the new Club Car CarryAll 500 with a Cushman Hauler Pro 72v AC.
I was leaning toward the Cushman because I thought it would have the most HP, torque, weight and towing capacities - based on the power package. I also liked the Cushman/EZGO utility carts because they offer an optional limited slip differential - which would help in my conditions greatly. However, the CarryAll can carry 800lbs, as opposed to 600lbs. And the towing capacities are similar. 1) So what gives? Is all I get with the 72v AC is more range - which I don't need? Shouldn't there also be more HP and torque, so maybe more capacities? 2) How does the rear traction work on these CarryAlls? I really need maximum rear traction - so would the lack of a limited slip differential be a deal breaker? (and yes, I am really set on electric ) |

Re: 48v DC CarryAll vs. 72v AC Cushman/EZGO
Hello,, for me,, there's no doubt,, i go with the cushman haulerpro.. The three major reasons why i go with it,, 1-the 72 volt ac drive 2- limited slip differential 3-the payload capacity is not 600 lbs but 1000lbs..... 400lbs better than the carryall.

Re: 48v DC CarryAll vs. 72v AC Cushman/EZGO
Thanks JD - but here are the full correct figures - and that is what I don't understand - why the CarryAll carries much more weight, despite the power differences.
In this format CarryAll/Cushman - taken from their brochures - attached below. Bed load capacity 800lbs/600lbs Vehicle load capacity 1500lbs/1000lbs Towing capacity 1200lbs/1262lbs So what good is the extra power, except for range? The CarryAll carries 33% more weight. And I am worried that parts may be cheaper and more available on-line for the CarryAll. However, it's the limited slip dif. in the Cushman that I think tilts the scales for me. I'm not sure, but my research indicates that EZGO (Textron) has (or at least applied for) a patent on the limited slip concept in electric carts. It is an interesting issue because I just became aware that CarryAll introduced (days ago) the limited slip option in its CarryAlls - but in gas only. |

Yep i don't know why we don't find the same info.. maybe you should take a look at the hauler pro 1200x it's the lifted version if you plan to use it off road....

Yep, it's a pain when the manufacturers don't get the specs correct and consistent. It just didn't make sense to me as to why put a 72v AC power train in a vehicle, when a competitor can make a 48v DC cart with 50% more weight capacity, and the same towing capacity. If the only advantage is range - I can see it. But if that the only advantage, it doesn't make sense to me? |

I have a unique situation - living on an isolated island in Hawaii. Getting a cart here is expensive (used or new = same price). And there is no service/parts at all. I would have to do it all. So I was going to buy new, and count on a few (hopefully many) years of trouble free service - since I will maintain it meticulously. Then I could sell it, since these vehicles are impossible to find used here in any decent shape, and buy new again. I think in the long run, that would save me money and headaches, since I don't have a garage full of fancy tools, and I am only a "car guy" when I have to be. :) But only if I get the "right" vehicle. |

Re: 48v DC CarryAll vs. 72v AC Cushman/EZGO
Well it's hard to say,, because a breakdown can happen on any cart at any time... Maybe you should go with the carryall i tell you that because it's a dc drive (i think) it's cheaper to repair if it broke than AC system.... I don't know if it's the same controller in the haulerpro but an AC controller for my 48v RXV is around 1000$ in my area.. I'm in Montreal QC maybe it's going to be higher in hawaï......
