That's a much more difficult question because it involves calculations of rotating mass during acceleration, and stopping. It definitely makes a difference though.

Hmmm. Makes a guy think about a tire decision even more. Great, just what I need. Actual weights of tires have been hard for me to find. I've been looking for this very reason.

I just replaced my stock wheels/tires with 12'' wheels/23'' tires and while there is some minor loss of torque its really nothing to be concerned about on a golf cart. It now rolls along at the same speed at a lower RPM. If you have a healthy engine and a properly functioning clutch will compensate for most of the torque loss.

Thanks for your reply. My 2011 txt has lots of torque with standard tires but after installing the EXGO 4" drop it looks odd with the stock 18" tires. I want to install EZGO 12" wheels with 23 X 10.50 X12 tires package but it is hilly around here and I didn't want to ruin my hill climbing ability.

You can always get a different clutch spring. Or shim the one you have. As for the weight of the tires question Morgan44 I know in snowmobiles when I was into making them go faster that they said shaving one pound off something you had to turn (tires) was like loosing 5 lbs off the machine for power to weight ratio. On my quad I run light aluminum wheels for this reason, not the flashy mag ones. First post! I'm onto a cart project and am stoked! Good luck with the big rubber!

With the 4" lift you better go with 22s or put at least a 5" lift for 23s,
or you will be rubbing the brake peddle arm.

I wouldn't worry about the torque, you will like the little extra speed
with the larger tires, not to mention the looks.

Just wondering if the cart was electric, what the replies would have been? Yes, I'm learning here. Starting to appear that if you have an electric cart you need to do some expensive power upgrades to spin bigger tires.

I decided to go with 22" tires. I just installed them and I really don't notice any loss of torque. They also look great and added a lot of speed.
