Default good idea or not.

need some input. I have a g-2 rear end that recently developed
a crack in the housing. my fault entirely, (we were doing wheelies).
I could not find a replacement part, so had the housing welded.
I am thinking about welding a brace across the rear end from axle
to axle going over the top of the housing. my thought is that this will
help keep the housing from cracking again. I will not be doing any
more wheelies. good idea or not.

doesn't really seem like a bad idea, i've seen other cars with protective "skid" plates protecting the gearbox
