Removing/Replacing A-Arm Bushings
I need to remove and replace this bushing. I haven't tried very hard, but it appears that it's not gonna be easy. 1996 G16. Any tips are greatly appreciated...

Re: Removing/Replacing A-Arm Bushings
After trying all kinds of things Mr. Chevy and I hit them with a torch and melted them on my G14. Popped right out.

Re: Removing/Replacing A-Arm Bushings
If you can get at the steel outer sleeve, try an air-hammer,otherwise,start at them with a torch, ones the rubber starts smoking and melting, you can usually drive them out, then you will just need to remove the outer steel sleeve.Hope this helps.

melt the rubber out of them..then I took my die grinder and ground a slot in the steel outter sleave then used a punch and chisel to remove them.

Re: Removing/Replacing A-Arm Bushings
Dave, I didn't rebush the front arms because I bought a lift kit, but when I replaced the bushings in my rear swing arm I made sure the swing arm was nice and smooth inside and I put the new bushings in the freezer to shrink the O.D. they went in with a little tap.

Lube the new ones up with soap and compress the front lip with a hose clamp. We the took a long bolt with BIG washers to pull the new ones in.
