EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
Hey guys I have what I feel is pretty odd.
I know the speed sensor test for an EZGO TXT PDS, and I'm getting something weird. When I let the cart roll down an incline the cart beeps, but does not brake. Would that still be a faulty speed sensor? Thanks for any help! |

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
The roll away feature slows the cart. It takes a long time on a slight slope to stop.

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
I'm using a slight incline, but enough to practically test it. I'm not feeling any resistance on the incline or pushing it on flat ground. The cart is running slow which makes me think speed sensor, but the cart still beeps indicating roll away.

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
It sounds like the sensor or the sensor wiring is bad. You should feel resistance when pushing for sure.

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
In the walkaway safety mode, regen braking doesn't kick in until the cart approaches 2 MPH. It will push freely at lower speed.
If your tires are taller than stock (18"), the speed mentioned will be higher. Put controller into diagnostic mode and see what error code is beeped. Text at bottom of attached label tells you how to get into diagnostic mode. |

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
Hey Johnnie. This cart has factory size tires, and when rolled down hill reaches speed well above 2 MPH. Also the diag mode beeps no codes. Silence followed by a single chirp.

My cart is a 2008 EZGO PDS. When I perform the diagnostic test, all I get is 4 beeps. I dont see anything showing what this could mean. What are your thoughts? |

Re: EZGO PDS Speed sensor question
As you originally said, that is odd.
In post#3 you said the cart was running slow. What PDS speed chip is installed and what is the top speed on level ground? Also, does the silence followed by a single beep occur when controller goes into diagnostic mode, or when the cart is rolling downhill while in diagnostic node? Also, when rolling downhill, does the solenoid click? -------- If the beeper beeps rapidly when rolling downhill, the speed sensor is sending pulses to the controller, so the problem may be the controller. |

Attached are the various beep codes for the PDS modes along with the jumper arrangements and a list of the speed and amount of regen braking for the four PDS modes. |
