Buying new EZGO TXT and don't want to get ripped off
1st cart purchase and found this. Supposed to be getting it tomorrow and wanted some feedback from people who know about this stuff. Seems like a good deal to me with lot of extras on the 2005 cart. My biggest concern would be that batteries. They are supposedly 6 months old, but he does not have an extra battery for all the extra electronics. There is a dvd/cd player, 5 total speakers with a sub, and under lights. Seems like that would drain the batteries quickly. He says it does not effect them much. Does that sound right?

The cart looks really clean.
Ideally you’d want to use a voltage reducer to draw power from all 6 batteries instead of just 2. Especially with that sound system. It’s fairly inexpensive to add the reducer so I wouldn’t let that sway my decision if the rest of the cart is solid. |

Looks like you could fit the voltage reduce behind the sub box.

Re: Buying new EZGO TXT and don't want to get ripped off
Make sure to take a good look at the frame!! RUST. Especially under the battery box!
Are the batteries a known brand? There is a code stamped on the batteries that will give you the date. you may have to call a battery dealer to unlock the code. LED lights don't have much draw. Does it have an amp? to drive all them speakers?? That would be the largest draw! but if you use it at low (normal ) volume you should be fine. The more you crank it up the more amp's it draws. You will want to drive it, check play in steering, see if it handles well ( not touchy, squarely. and check the brakes. A female friend just went on her own and bought a 2014 cart that had new batteries, to find they are only good for about an hour! Also the cart must have been used at a salt water beach, the rust was unbelievable for a 2014 cart. Looking at the cart from the top side it looks GREAT! Not trying to scare you, just look it over very good. Good Luck |

Batteries that are only 6 months old should be proven with a receipt. They might be under warranty still but you would need the receipt. No receipt is a red flag for me. Battery age is frequently misrepresented by owners.

Big tires, rear seat... That's a lot of extra work for the 36 volt battery pack and motor, then add the additional draw from accessories.
Definitely a 36v to 48v upgrade candidate. Of course that's more $$$ Scottyb will fix you up though. |

Thanks for the advice. Frame was powder coated recently but I will check for other signs of rust. I also called the maker of the batteries and there is a date stamp so I can identify the age of the batteries.

I mean, what kind of a "deal" are you getting on it? That cart is worth 4K at most in my area if the batteries are a year or two old. Hope that helps

I'd be concerned about the sealed batteries. Make sure they are suitable for golf cart use and not marine batteries. Remember the batteries are new is one of the three great golf cart lies.
