Default Overheating?

My G9 gets very sluggish toward the end of a long hill climb, it then won't want to fire up after I stop. If I leave it with the seat up for a few minutes it will be ok again so I'm wondering if it could be a fuel starvation issue.

The fuel filler flap is missing & and the heat pours out of there when running it hard. The hill from the bottom of the resort to the top is an elevation change of 600' & it really struggles when I have to do it one go.

Everything is tuned up, plug looks good after changing jet & opening up airbox, the power is good until it gets really hot.

Any insight before I start cutting holes in places it shouldn't have any?

Is your muffler intact ? How is the gasket between the head and the exhaust system ? The yamahas will build some real heat under seat if all is not well with the exhaust.

Yep. There also could be debris under the engine shrouding...

Everything is clean around the engine & under the shroud, I can't see any leaks from exhaust gasket but I will try running it while covering tailpipe to listen for leaks.

Thank you for your assistance.
