Default Swapping Marathon Motor

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie looking for some advice. I recently got a 1991 Marathon and a 1995 Medalist for free. As you can figure I have been doing a lot of tracing electrical down but all the post on this site has helped me a lot. The Marathon is in a lot better condition than the Medalist even though it's older so that's the one I'm primary working on. I have the Marathon up and running but the Medalist has no batteries and a heavily rusted frame. I did test the Medalist motor and it did run when hooked to a 12V battery. My question is since the Marathons are down on speed and torque would it benefit me any in swapping motors if that is even possible? Both are series carts and have factory motors. I didn't know if the Medalist had a better, mostly on the torque end of things and if they were interchangeable?

You're going to have to remove the motors and compare the rear ends to determine what type of motor input each requires. I've seen some Marathons that have geared inputs as well as splined shaft inputs.
IIRC (<--danger zone)EZGO was going through some rear end changes on the vendor side around that time so motor output and rear end input changed and even sometimes within a model year.

Good luck.

Can you take the complete rear diff, axle and motor out of the Medalist and put it in the Marathon? This way the motor will still work with the diff/axle.

I don't know what the spring mounts look like on the axle, so I don't know if this would be a good option or not.
