Cart barely moves in foward and reverse
Hi to all I am new here and a new batterie powerered cart owner. From what I can tell I have a 2001 medalist series cart. When I bought it one of the posts came off of the motor. The place I got it from had another motor laying in the shop. I put it on and now it barely moves. The solenoid is clicking and I am getting low voltage to the motor. The old motor was stuck and I damaged it removing it. before I could get all the information off of the old motor the shop threw it away because of the damage. I had the motor gone thru and tested and it is supposed to be good I think it is the wrong motor. Would a Sepex work in a series cart? I will not be able to look into anything for the next couple of days. Due to work. The shop is not a golf cart place the guys there do not know much about them. I am sure if I surf the threads I could find something on this so if there is another thread with this topic if you could get me a link I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Re: Cart barely moves in foward and reverse
Thanks sir nuke. I am sure the cart is a series thru my research I will have to remove the motor to look at the windings for motor verification. Do you know right off if the motor is wrong would it run? It may be a sepex. It does not have any sensing wires on the back. Thanks for the quick response.

You may be correct - a sepex motor will barely turn in a series system.

Re: Cart barely moves in foward and reverse
Just curious if this may be a fast/easy confirmation. Do SepEx motors have different sized studs for rotor than stator, or are they all the same, like a series?

Thanks Scotty b I think I need a motor I will pull it and identify it. Thank you for the fast response. I will keep you all posted on my findings.

Attachment-1 DCS motor side view Attachment-2 DCS motor end view Attachment- Series motor end view ------------- PDS and later sepex motors have smaller studs for the field winding that are labeled F1 and F2. And they usually have a speed sensor on the rear of the end cap. ----------- Mistakenly putting a DCS motor in a series drive cart is a definite possibility. |

Yeah, I assumed field (stator S) windings would be obvious, but since he had it installed...

I stole your picture for my stash. Is that your AMD 7126 Raptor? The picture of the series motor I posted was from a Marathon with side mounted motor. |
