Default 95 DS Gas spring upgrade

My dad has a 95 DS gas that has a single leaf rear spring. It has a back seat and he wanted to upgrade to a heaver rear suspension so he bought a 4 leaf spring set on amazon. We are trying to install them, a task we thought would be straightforward, but it is not. It's like there is not enough room between the axle and the engine frame to get the 4 leafs. Has anyone had any issues with this? Need some advice.
Thanks

There's a dogbone between the transmission housing and the engine cradle that has to be removed to fit the larger springs in. It's short only maybe 2" long and not easy to get to. You'll have to make a new one or extend it after the springs are installed. The mount keeps the trans from pitching forward when the cart starts driving. Removing it allows the trans to rock forward which changes the distance between the clutches and results in belt chatter and loss of power, basically makes for a very jerky ride.
You also may need longer u-bolts to be able to bolt it all back together.
It's gonna ride like a tank with those springs, even with people on the back. Might consider getting a set of dual action springs, or just a new set of stock springs, which will be better than worn out 25+ years old original springs.

Thank you. Got that little link off and the new springs on. It really don't ride that bad with the new springs. The originals just bottomed out all the time. It only had 1 leaf.
