Default Duromax 420 clone idles to high

Good day everybody. I'm new to the site and looking for help with a 420 clone in a club car precedent. I have a clone comet clutch with yellow springs but cannot get the engine to idle so the clutch doesn't engage. I have an nr racing carb with bigger jets and have also opened the idle jet slightly. I have a crappy picture of the engine setup attached. I will take a better picture when I get back to the cart. Any idea how to slow the idle down? I dont currently have a tach but I will order one.

If you can’t adjust the idle in the carb low enough without it dying, I think I’d get a quality clutch. I never tried one of the comet clones but I’ve used the cvtech clutch that vegas carts sells a couple times and never had a problem.

I run the stock driven clutch and the comet 780 style is the only clutch I could find that suits a 1" belt. I have tried heavier springs but it seems to lurch hard when the clutch engages almost lifting the front end off the ground. Fun the first few times but is scary in tight places. I think if I can get the idle down then I will have a smoother clutch transition from idle to cruise.

A fairly easy solution is the buy the genuine Honda carb from ARC racing Part # 3225. It has an adjustable idle circuit screw that has merely a limiter cap that is easily modified. Doing this alone makes it easy to get a 1000 rpm idle. For xtra tuning for more power add an adjustable main jet from either NRracing or ECcarbs. All this is a lot cheaper than doing things on the primary clutch.

Actually I have that exact carb installed from ARC Racing. I have a #42 main jet installed (drilled to #47) and an adjustable main jet. I cut the limiter off the idle air screw and have a few different sizes of idle jets and I cannot get this engine to idle any lower. I will post the RPM I'm getting when my tach arrives. Im not sure if the compression release is opening or what else I can do. I have a video of my setup attached if anyone can give me some advise. I have yellow springs on the clutch and fairly light weights. Thanks to everybody for the help so far.
