looking for some insight... re mid-90s Villager

I am looking at a Villager 8 gas that needs some work. It is from the 90s and missing the entire roof. I figure a RedDot canopy would work on it, but I am unsure about finding replacement struts for the canopy. Anyone have insights on where to find them? I am worried that they may not be available for the early years. (I know finding parts for my G1 is getting harder and harder).

You'll probably just have to get some generic candy canes and modify them.

The front windshield strut you can still find because it's the same as the DS carts.
The old villager and transporter carts used aluminum struts which were kinda flimsy and would usually crack at the base.
Steel replacements are more rigid and have less tendency to crack, but you will likely have to be a little creative with how you mount them to the cart.

For reference, if you look around at pictures of almost any cart with an aftermarket roof, they almost always have generic replacement struts.

You can also buy the front old style DS roof strut online now. Someone FINALLY got smart and made it a 3 piece design for the big “U” shaped piece so it is shippable. I haven’t tried one personally yet but they look to be promising. They’re around 70-80 bucks on amazon
