Default nebie - ezgo 86 gas ---Help

OK guys i need some serious help. 1986 ezgo gas cart, robins 244cc engine. 2 cycle. Stripped motor out and put new piston and rings in. rebrushed starter generator. reinstalled and it wont turn over with the plug in. I take the plug out and it turns over fine. Plug in wont even turn the cart over. i can't even get it to turn over to compression test it if maybe i stuck a ring on install. Any help you can give me would be great. I installed new rear end and secondary clutch now i need to feed some speed to my ride. HELP ME PLEASE
-I CHECKED THE EXAUST PORT ON THE PISTON THAT IS RIGHT
- BEARINGS MAYBE?
-CRANKSEAL? WOULD THAT CAUSE IT?

well it sounds like a head scratcher thats for sure.

pull the motor out of the cart and try spinning it by hand.
there has to be something stopping the piston from moving under comp.
sure sounds like the pistons in wrong to me or the exhaust is SO clogged that it wont allow to release the pressure.
might have to dissemble from the top down.

good luck, DEW

my 89 did that , I had put the rings in without seeing the ring stop in the piston groove , had a lot of trouble getting it in , and a lot of 'oh well's ' pulling it back out 4 times , it had broken a ring on install . took me 4 sets of rings to finally get it right , bearings in the starter are a good idea also.
I didn't have much experience on 2 stroke engines , got more now. Did my brothers cart a couple of months ago it's an 86 , 2pg had to do a full rebuild on it .
