Re: Battery terminal issue
unless you are running, or plan to run, a 500 AMP or bigger controller with a High Torque motor, 4 gauge is more than fine..... In fact, the only time I go to 2 Gauge is when I am running a 700 AMP controller with a high torque motor......

Re: Battery terminal issue
Yea ya do Tom,
There was another post kinda recent that a member used a piece of copper tubing as a ring and melted lead back into it around a bolt. Anyone remember it? I thought it was a clean repair but can't find it now, as usual. |

Re: Battery terminal issue
This may sound trivial, but I have found if you connect your batteries with the heavy cable connections to the battery first, and then any tap connections ( charger leads, lights, etc. ) on top of the main cables, you will get a much better connection! The bolts in the batteries really aren't great conductors of current. clean all battery and terminal connections to bright metal! I try to do this once a month, or so. Also you don't need to torque the nuts real tight. When you do, it actually pulls the bolt out of the lead post. Snug is good and check them often. It only takes a few minutes!
