Re: g1 primary clutch
Check the wear on your drive belt, the limit is 27mm or 1.06 inches width on the outside of the belt. Lubricate the secondary clutch to make sure it is closing up as the cart is slowing down. If all that is good it could be that the primary is worn on the inside where the fingers and weights are.

Re: g1 primary clutch
Had a similar problem with a snowmobile clutch. It was in fact worn out where the weights push on the movable half of the clutch causing them to go slightly "overcenter" and get stuck there, not releasing until the engine nearly stalled. Only solution in that case is to replace the clutch.

Re: g1 primary clutch
Thanks for the reply. Been on vacation. That is just what it seems to be doing. Going to pull apart again and take closer look at weights. Thanks again...Kevin

Re: g1 primary clutch
Hard to find parts for the original G1 clutch with the spring in it. The G2/9 style with no spring and huge cover you can by the weight assembly for yet. Funny they were cheaper at my yami dealer than they were online, nearly half. I bought a used G9 for $90 and swapped all the parts to another to rebuild it. I even took the bushings and seals out. That one had holes in the sheave but had been rebuilt not long ago everything was like new. I also needed the cover not sure you can even buy that.
If the secondary is closing on the belt at rest like it should, then sure something is hosed in the primary it should let go of the belt at rest/idle |
