Re: add a battery for accessories ???
How will you charge it?
I think you may be boiling your start battery with high voltage, Check the voltage while running, you may need a new voltage regulator. |

Re: add a battery for accessories ???
DOOm's is right, voltage output should be 14.5 to 15.5 volts at the battery with the engine reving. Did you run your grounds back to the battery or attatch them to the frame? Did you upgrade the fuse to 15 or 20 amp, both on the lites and the main car fuse?

Re: add a battery for accessories ???
I put these led lights on my cart to keep the amp draw to a minimum. As you can see from the specs a forward light draws only .8 amps while a comparable 55 watt incadesent will draw about 5 amps. The light they give off is a nice bright white colour and there are 3 different light patterns to choose from. For the rear marker lights and reverse lights i used the micronova dot lamps, also led, their draw is only .05 amps. If you need to be street legal you may need different products but i highly recommend the new led lighting.

I know when a 200 watt light bulb blows in my garage it will
pop the breaker and other bulbs. It spikes the voltage some how. Look for a bad socket or short. Think about all the GM trucks with one daytime running light. |

Re: add a battery for accessories ???
I'm not getting a real clear picture of whats going on except for blowing fuses and bulbs. How many lights on the each circuit, whats the wattage of the lights, what size wire and what size fuse for protection? Are you blowing tail light bulbs frequently? Is the glass on the burnt bulbs black or silver coloured? Wires shorted to ground a good possability, look for signs of wear on the wire insulation where ever the wires are close to the frame or the ground wire. Also consider moisture from rain, puddles, dew etc. could be causing a temp short to ground especially with older wires that have cracked or worn insulation.
