Re: Easier way to reconnect light switch?
Silver, we like to have a little fun.....
I'm just going over this in my head and thinking of all the electrical I have done in my dash. I just cant figure out any way that removing the cowl is the easiest way to locate these wires. I understand having to remove the top to remove the cowl.... But I cant image why it would be required......... I guess we ultimately have to yield to your trust of the person doing the work. |

Re: Easier way to reconnect light switch?
Very good question Gorno... We are ASSUMING it was a factory key switch. If it is another was is to pull the front badge/nameplate, drill the two rivets and reach between the cowl and shield. Two people, a coat hanger and a flashlight can do wonders..

Re: Easier way to reconnect light switch?
Well, okay........then I guess I'll stay.
The light knob is located clear over on the left of the dashboard. Is that usually where they are? Its my understanding that the light wires are in a harness with a bunch of other wires and he wants to keep them there. ?? He likes things very neat, so maybe other solutions are too untidy for him? I'm just totally guessing here. Like I said, he's always been great to deal with and very conscientious. |

Silver... he may be honest, but it doesn't mean he knows what is going on. If it were me, I would take some pictures of your set up and post them here and get some input; but that's just me, I like to do my own work. |

Re: Easier way to reconnect light switch?
They can be anywhere but I was assuming it was part of the original ignition switch. You should be able to find the wires by pulling the cup holders and just reach around for some loose ones. Worse case, pull the cowl and yes that requires pulling most of what he originally talked about.

Re: Easier way to reconnect light switch?
No, its not inside the little storage cubbie.
Its on the dash, right under it. And he made it sound that the wires dropped down too far to reach or in an area that was too narrow. I don't know golf cart anatomy enough to say if this makes sense or not. At first, he thought the nut just came lose on the inside part of the light knob and maybe one wire. He said he can usually just reach up inside there to tighten the nut and put one wire back in, but since both wires were out and fell, he just couldn't reach them by any other method. Does that make sense to you? Well, beggars can't be choosers. I know nothing about fixing this and just have to believe that he's doing what's necessary. If I were an expert, in my experience I would probably find this very odd too, but as it is, I just have to go with it. And I do know that honest/good people are not always competent. But with everything else for the most part, he's been very competent too. I can't take any pics 'cause he has my cart. |
